Internal Communication and Intranet Restructuring for a Construction Organization

Supported a large construction organization in rethinking how internal information was structured, accessed, and used across teams.

The organization had a significant amount of information available. The challenge was that it was difficult to find, difficult to trust, and often disconnected from how teams actually worked. Content existed across multiple locations, with duplication and outdated materials creating confusion and inefficiency.

This led to a reliance on informal channels, repeated requests to internal teams, and time spent recreating materials that already existed.

The work focused on making the intranet more usable, reliable, and aligned with how the organization operates in practice.

This included:

  • redesigning the intranet structure to reflect how teams navigate and use information
  • consolidating document locations to reduce duplication and version confusion
  • reviewing and updating key materials to ensure accuracy and relevance
  • refining the visual structure to improve clarity and ease of navigation

This resulted in:

  • a more intuitive system where employees could find what they needed without unnecessary searching
  • increased usage of the intranet as a trusted source of information
  • reduced reliance on informal requests and workarounds
  • fewer repeated requests to teams such as marketing for commonly used materials
  • time saved through access to current, ready to use templates
